Tuesday Memo 1/17/2012

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear St. John the Baptist Families,

Great News!  We are excited to announce that we are the recipients of a $325,000 grant from The Wayne & Gladys Valley Foundation for the purpose of the Library Remodel and Expansion Project.  The grant stipulates that we must match the funds through private donations from our community and other foundations.  We certainly have a great deal of fundraising work in front of us, but I am confident that we can make this happen for our children and school.  How can you help?  Please submit the pledge cards that were distributed in early December and attend our upcoming Endowment Event – a portion of this evening’s profits will go to the Library fund.  We’ll be sure to keep you posted on our fundraising progress and are very excited about this first generous award.

Progress Reports were sent home with your child/ren on Friday 1/13.  Hopefully you had the opportunity to sit down with your child/ren to discuss areas of strength and growth.  Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to engage in further dialogue about his/her progress.  Please return the progress report envelope to school with your child/ren. The end of second trimester is Friday, March 2nd and Report Cards will be issued Friday, March 9th – your children have 7 weeks of progress to go!

Did you Know?  That we have dedicated PTG officers and parents who are working hard to make the upcoming Crab Feed a success?  Please remember to purchase your tickets in the front office.  That Catholic Schools week is fast approaching and the Kindergarten class is preparing diligently to host the opening mass on Sunday, January 29th at 9:30am?  That a free dress pass will be given to all students in uniform attending the mass?  Mark your calendars.  That we will host grandparents and special people in the lives of our students on Wednesday, February 1st for a morning of classroom engagement and lunch?  We can’t wait!

Blessings for a Joy-Filled Week!

Dina Trombettas
