A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL Dear St. John the Baptist Families, Happy Valentine’s Day! February is a month [...]

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear St. John the Baptist Families,

Happy Valentine’s Day! February is a month of many celebrations. The classrooms have been busy planning for and celebrating St. Valentine’s Day, Black History Month, Lincoln’s and Washington’s Birthdays and Chinese New Year. All of these celebrations enrich the lives of our children as we hope to model the values of those Presidents, African Americans and Chinese Americans who have contributed to the enrichment of our culture as Americans.

Did You Know?

This Friday 2/17 there is no school and the teachers will be working on their curriculum maps in vertical teams at school? – enjoy the four day President’s Day weekend. That the 1st grade classroom has their Post Office open for business this week? That we are currently working diligently on next year’s budget and will announce tuition rates for next year shortly? That Financial Aid applications are available in the front office for next year and require 2011 tax returns and W2’s for completion?

Blessings for a Joy-Filled Week!

Dina Trombettas

Cell Phone Policy

Please know there have been several issues regarding student cell phone use at school and we must continue to be consistent with our policy in the 2011-2012 Student & Parent Handbook:

Personal Items

Students may not bring any personal items to school including: toys, radios, ipods, itouch, cameras, cell phones, electronic devices, playground equipment, CD players, etc. If they are at school, the teacher or staff member will keep them and return them at his/her discretion. Cell phones are not to be used on school grounds or during Day Care. Phones are to be kept tucked away, turned off and out of sight at all times.

If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the main office at (510) 234-2244. Thank you in advance for partnering with us to insure this policy is honored and that the learning during the school day takes place.

Applications for Tuition Assistance

Applications for diocesan and school tuition assistance are now in the office. Please pick up an application packet and mail them to the address on the application. All Tax documentation and wage information must be included with your application when mailed to ensure that everything is received by the deadlines. Please apply for all tuition assistance that is available: FACE, PACE (Schools), and Basic Fund (Application available in the office). If you don’t qualify for one, you might qualify for another. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the office.

UNIFORM NEWS

Our contract with Dennis Uniform ends this year and we would like to give an opportunity to another uniform company to present their uniform products to us. We have set up an evening for you to listen to presentations from 3 different companies Classic Design Uniform, Dennis Uniform and Mills Uniform company on Wednesday, February 15th in the library. All parents are encouraged to attend and ask questions about their products and services.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear St. John the Baptist Families,

Wow! What fantastic Catholic Schools Week! The week began with a joyous liturgical celebration hosted by our Kindergarten, an impressive Science Fair and a well attended Open House and Scholastic Book Fair. The week only got better as we hosted the Grandparents and Special People in our lives and finished with an amazingly successful Crab Feed. The amount of fellowship shared during the week is the very reason why we are such a strong Catholic School.

Numerous people commented on how polite the students were (special kudos to our 7th and 8th grade Crab Feed servers!), how many were in awe of how poised the Kindergarteners were during their mass and how many were impressed with stellar presentation of the Science Fair projects. Many thanks to Mrs. Tan-Torres and Mrs. Maltagliati for a beautiful liturgy. We thank Mrs. Bains and Mr. Hartman for their Science Fair organization. We thank Cathy Quidachay and the many parent volunteers for an extremely successful Scholastic Book Fair. We thank Catherine Zaragoza, Lynda Hill and the many parent volunteers for a fantastic Grandparents Day. We thank the faculty and staff & Mr. Walton and the Student Council for welcoming all visitors to our campus and classrooms. We thank Frances Williams for capturing all of our festive Catholic School Week moments as our photographer. We thank Maria Hornibrook, Nicole Forte, Andrea Bredlinger, Maria Edrada and Theresa Boone for the uncountable hours dedicated to our Crab Feed and the parents who worked in earnest to advertize, set-up, cook (everything tasted amazing), organize the raffle and auction prizes, tend bar, sell tickets and clean-up. The week is a testament that we are living examples of faith, modeling the true meaning of community to our children – certainly something to continue celebrating!

With Tremendous Gratitude and Blessings,

Dina Trombettas

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear St. John the Baptist Families,

Our celebration of Catholic Schools Week continues and we have many fun and festive days this week to acknowledge our amazing community. We began our celebration this past Sunday at the 9:30am liturgy. We simply cannot thank you enough for attending the mass to support the Kindergarten class. We are so very proud of the Kindergarten class for their mass presentation and infinitely thankful to Mrs. T and Mrs. M for being the dedicated teachers that they are. The Open House followed with your students excited to show you their classrooms and new families eager to take a peek at our programs – we had a great turnout! Many thanks to the entire faculty and staff for working so very hard to prepare for this important day.

Blessings for a Joy-Filled Week!

MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear St. John the Baptist Families,

Catholic Schools Week is almost upon us! We will begin the celebratory week on Sunday, January 29th at the 9:30 am mass. The Kindergarten class has been working diligently to plan the liturgy and they can’t wait to share the morning with entire community. Students in attendance wearing their full uniforms will receive a Free Dress Pass!

After mass, all families and friends are invited to visit the classrooms, view the fantastic Science Fair projects in the gymnasium, enjoy a refreshment and shop in the library at the Scholastic Book Fair. Did you know that the last Book Fair was so successful that Scholastic Dollars went directly back to your child’s class for classroom libraries? Let’s continue the success – your purchases really do make a difference!

We also look forward to introducing new families to St. John the Baptist School. Applications for all grade levels and tuition assistance information will be available at the hospitality table in the gym foyer & remember for any new family you refer, you will receive $200 off of your 2012-2013 tuition. We are sure our new visitors will be impressed with our curriculum and academic programs, classwork in the hallways and classrooms and of course our faculty and staff. We look forward to seeing everyone!

Peace and Blessings for a Joy-Filled Week!
